The opening ceremony was attended by artist representatives from 16 countries and regions: Xie Yuan, Vice-President of the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, Wang Yongzhang, Vice-President of the Chinese Culture Promotion Association, Shani Karuna, Deputy Ambassador of Sri Lanka to China, Dr. Zhong Jingou and Dr. Xie Tiansong, Honorary Chairman of the Asian Artists Association, Ye Youdan, Chairman of the Asian Artists Association, Legal Adviser of the Asian Artists Association, Zheng Ruizhi of Zhengning Law Firm, Malaysia.Zhangzhen, Economic Adviser of Asian Artists Association, Chairman of Asia Tropical Bio-health Industry Group, Zhou Jianping, Deputy Secretary-General of China Friends International Academy of Art Exchange, Yu Guoqin, Secretary-General of Asian Artists Association, Tan Nailin, Zheng Hongzhang, Yao Ming, Presidents of Branches of Asian Artists Association, and other artists.

The Asian International Art Exchange Exhibition originated in 2002 and was then called "Asia New Art Exchange Exhibition". It was held every two years in different countries and regions. It aims to promote harmony and progress, peace and fraternity among Asian countries, promote the development and innovation of Asian national art. It is a bridge for Asian artists to consult, communicate with and learn from one another, and it promotes friendship and creates a link of civilization among different countries and nations. This year is the ninth Asian International Art Exchange Exhibition, and the theme is "Colorful Asia, Civilized Silk Road, Charming Qingdao". From solicitation to exhibition, artists and art enthusiasts from 16 countries and regions participated enthusiastically in the exhibition, and 157 pieces of exhibition works were selected, including Chinese painting, watercolor painting, oil painting, printmaking and so on, representing the cultural style and artistic level of different countries.

2018 marks the fortieth anniversary of China's reform and opening up, and this year marks the successful holding of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Summit in Qingdao. In the post-summit era, Qingdao hosted such an international exhibition with 16 artists from different countries and regions. 157 Chinese and foreign artists came to participate in exhibitions, seminars and pen meetings. It is an important international cultural exchange activity. It will play an important role in promoting the opening level of Qingdao's literature and art to the outside world and enhancing the image of Qingdao city.

Following the opening ceremony, art forums and Chinese and foreign artists' brush and calligraphy meetings will be held to organize foreign artists to create their works of landscapes in Qingdao.
